Australia currently has important urban passenger projects such as the Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane Metros, Cross River Rail, Perth’s Metronet and multiple light rail infrastructure and rolling stock investments, we also have crucial freight projects such as Inland Rail and the re-surgent heavy haul rail market led by the mining houses. The common concern we hear from our clients is that there aren’t enough suitable skills to deliver this tidal wave of work and unless we address this resourcing shortage the delivery of these major rail projects will be in jeopardy.
